COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
In addition to its commitment to the environment, the Company strives to support the various communities in the areas in which it operates including Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. This support includes direct and indirect financial support through sponsorships, support programs, employment and the indirect economic growth and benefits that flow from significant company expenditure in the communities in the vicinity of the Company’s operations.
As a Company, we believe that support programs and sponsorships strengthen links between the Company and the communities in which we operate. The Company is a regular contributor to schools, sporting groups, festivals, service organisations and indigenous community. Recent projects to which the Company has contributed include the following:
- Community Foreshore Restore – Boyanup - This project
is designed to restore the reserves along the Preston River for environmental
purposes as well as creating a more people-friendly area complete with walk
trails, information signs, rest areas and linkages to local streets.

Nannup
Foreshore Park Development (Cable Sands Cultural Precinct) – to enhance the
parkland along the Blackwood River.
- Youth Driver Development Program - In an effort to
bring the road toll down, the Company sponsors the Youth Driver Development
Program, which aims to develop sound attitudes towards driving and safety
among Year 11 high school students.
- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - JDF was
founded in 1970 by parents of children with diabetes. Their mission; to find a
cure for diabetes and its complications.
- Dolphin Discovery Centre - The Dolphin Discovery
Centre is operated by the Bunbury Dolphin Trust and it provides opportunities
for people to learn about dolphins by interacting with them in their natural
environment.
- The Rink – SkateSmart Program - The SkateSmart
program is an initiative of The Rink in Bunbury, designed to emphasise the
importance of safety in sport.
- Royal Flying Doctor Service. This service provides
vital medical care in remote areas.
- Pooncarie Racing Club – race sponsorship.
- Pooncarie New Years Day Picnic.
- Pooncarie Golf Club and the Pooncarie Golf Day.
The Company sees the race, sporting and picnic days as vital for a community spread over such a vast area. These clubs and events provide the opportunity for communities to come together.
The Company continues to make every effort to consult with all communities effected by our proposed or existing operations and this continued consultation has only served to increase the already strong links that have formed between the communities and the Company. |
